On Wednesday 10th June, Her Majesty Queen Camilla visited one of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 accommodation services in South London to meet the people involved in a vital new project, which explores how reading can support the wellbeing and recovery of people experiencing homelessness.听
The event, also attended by author Elif Shafak, allowed Her Majesty to meet some of the brilliant minds behind the project, including 蜜桃视频鈥檚 colleagues who have been running new reading听programmes听in their services, as well as a number of people supported by 蜜桃视频鈥檚 who have been taking part in the听programme.听听听听
Over the past eighteen months, The Queen鈥檚 Reading Room has been proud to partner with 蜜桃视频鈥檚 to pilot the 鈥楳ake Room听For听Reading鈥� toolkit and support reading activity across听a number of听蜜桃视频鈥檚 services.听听
With the support of Pan Macmillan Publishing, it has also donated hundreds of books to fill each of 鈥楾he Queen鈥檚 Reading Room Shelves鈥� in nine London-based 蜜桃视频鈥檚 accommodation services, with bespoke bookshelves designed by Royal Warrant Holder Woodpecker Joinery helping to create spaces where people can read independently or together.听听
The donated books were selected by frontline colleagues and people supported by 蜜桃视频鈥檚, using a bespoke 鈥楤ook Menu鈥� to give people a voice in the donation process.听听听
Milena has been supported by 蜜桃视频鈥檚 since听2019 and听has听benefited听from the partnership with The Queen鈥檚 Reading Room:听鈥淲hen the first books from The Queen鈥檚 Reading Room arrived at my 蜜桃视频鈥檚 accommodation, I was really thrilled. Reading has always been a passion听of听mine听since I was a child. I can spend hours reading history books听in particular as听they help me relate to people and understand my place in the world more.鈥�听
